In 1985, Dr. Gordon Klatt and the American Cancer Society began the Relay For Life in Tacoma, Washington. Since then the event has grown into the nationwide signature activity for the American Cancer Society, community developed and volunteer driven. The 2001 Deerfield.com Relay For Life Team, for the second year in a row, raised over $15,000 on behalf of the American Cancer Society.
