Windows IT Pro Declares Kerio MailServer 6.2 the Best Exchange Alternative
Product Comparison cites Kerio’s superior flexibility, feature set and ease of use and administration
GAYLORD, MI — August 11, 2006 — In the August edition of Windows IT Pro, consultant John Green conducted an extensive comparison of three Microsoft Exchange Alternatives: Kerio MailServer 6, MDaemon 9.0.1 and Ipswitch Collaboration Suite 2006 Premium Edition. Rating Kerio MailServer with the highest rating given in the study, 4 and a half out of 5, Green explains that Kerio MailServer, “is a full-featured mail server that includes groupware features. Its support for the Microsoft Entourage email client and Apple Computer Open Directory under Macintosh OS X sets it apart from the other products I reviewed.”
Particularly impressed with Kerio MailServer’s uncomplicated setup and user administration, Green says: “KMS authenticates user access in one of three ways: using its own internal database, by authenticating to Windows NT domain accounts, or by authenticating to AD or Apple Open Directory using Kerberos 5. Unlike MDaemon and ICS, which ask you to select a single source to use to authenticate all email accounts, KMS lets you choose a different authentication method for different accounts."
After stating KMS provides “thoughtful attention to detail and easy administration”, Green concludes, “Implementing KMS should be a relatively easy experience for users and not particularly difficult for administrators. Overall, I found working with KMS a pleasure.”
