The new releases extend a development partnership begun in 2000 with the release of MailScan for MDaemon.

The new products utilize MWTI’s MailScan antivirus and spam blocking technologies to provide protection for Deerfield.com’s VisNetic MailServer as well as other SMTP mail servers on the market today. Both products offer automated, fast virus signature updates; real-time email scanning; attachment blocking; automatic worms deletion; scanning of HTML emails and attachments for scripts, also termed IE vulnerabilities; scanning of multipart/partial messages for viruses; detection and disinfection of viruses traveling via TNEF (Transport Neutral Encapsulation Format) attachments, a standard delivery method used in Microsoft Outlook; and the option to specify certain domains as approved or verified safe, reducing the amount of scanning required by VisNetic MailScan.

Both products also reduce unwanted email through real-time content scanning of text and HTML emails; automatic deletion or quarantine of emails containing user-defined restricted words or phrases anywhere in the subject, body and/or tags; blocking or allowing email a from specific email or IP addresses; real-time checking of Blackhole lists (RBL); real-time checking of Dial Up Users lists (DUL); and validation of sender’s domain via MX lookup.
